Racing Hondas Rounds 11 and 12 Report - Donington Park

Coming to Donington for the first time in 2 years in a Civic. I was hoping to get started well and have a clean weekend.

Ready, Set, Go...

We went out for free practice, after a couple of laps I was called into the pits, an engine mount snapped and in the process pulled one of the water pipes off causing the car to over heat, a red flag then ended the session, so I didn’t get back out.

The team set to work fixing both the engine mount and pipes, I went into quali where I struggled with traffic and getting a good time. I only got one good lap on the final run round which put me p7 in class. 

Race One

Race one was unfortunately another DNF due to an electrical issue which was affecting the cars power steering, where it would not work intermittently, I was losing places each lap and getting further and further towards the end of the pack, so I decided to retire the car before this issue caused me any big offs. 

Race Two

Race 2 I started dead last due to not getting a good time in race one, lights went out and I had a great start, passing a few cars before the first corner, this continued throughout the whole race and I had a blast passing 18 cars and finishing p8 in class and 15th overall.

The positives to take away from this weekend are my brake and braking issues finally feel like they have been sorted after struggling with them all year. The car in that final race was feeling great. Points wise, the weekend could have been more lucrative, but we still have 2 rounds to go!

What's Next?

Next up is my local track Brands Hatch again during the Japfest show, which will be an awesome event.  I hope to have a better weekend than I did last time, and would love to see some familiar faces in the crowd cheering me on!
