WHO IS LOUI HOUNSELL?

ABOUT ME

“Loui Hounsell is a talented young driver, all round nice guy and has really impressed me with his driving this year, and the way he conducts himself in the paddock, you wouldn’t believe he is only 17 years old, what a great kid!!” - Paul O’Niell  BTCC commentator.

I come from a motorsport loving family and have had a passion for cars and racing for as long as I can remember. The world of professional motorsport isn’t an easy one, it’s a full time commitment requiring personal sacrifice, dedication and preparation and I am grateful for the ongoing support of my family.

My racing career started in 2021, when I got behind the wheel of a Citroen Saxo 1.6 VTR in the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC). I finished my first season as Vice Rookie Champion; really hitting my stride in the second round; battling the top ten cars; most of whom were much more experienced drivers. I was ranked 7th in the overall standings, of 36 drivers.

In 2022 I made the move into senior motorsport, competing in a Honda Civic Type R, in the Miltek Civic Cup Championship; in the production class within the one make race series. This proved to be a very strong season; I collected 14 podiums, 4 pole positions, more fastest laps than any other driver and 2 driver of the day awards. I finished the 2022 season as Vice Champion in the Production class of the Civic Cup.

Another 2022 achievement of which I am very proud was being offered a place at the Motorsport UK Academy, based in Loughborough. Being selected means I am considered one of the top 20 drivers in the UK. This is a 2 year course. I am hoping it will provide me with lots of motorsport based opportunities.

My ultimate goal is to become a professional racing driver at the top level, and to be a ARDS instructor and help junior drivers and track day enthusiasts get the best racing possible.

At college and at home I spend a lot of time E sports racing, training at the gym, track practice and testing, and I am always working on my media skills.

I have been very proud to have been described by commentators as having “great driving standards", and being “a nice guy around the paddock”, and I am often described as the “one to watch”; this really helps to inspire me to keep achieving to make my team, family and fans proud.

I live in the moment, take on everyday with discipline and passion, and always have the courage to push myself to unknown limits.

In the words of Daniel Riccardo “ sometimes you just have to lick the stamp and send it”.
