Oulton Park BRSCC Club Sport Trophy Race Report
I arrived at the track for qualifying having never turned a wheel of the tricky Oulton Park track, so the 20 minute qualifying session was my first ever laps. I got to grips with the track and the new gear box in my Honda Civic Type R EP3 very quickly, and despite the lack of experience at the track I qualified P2 in class and P13 overall.
My race start was not ideal, left me going 3 wide into turn one and I had to take to the grass to avoid contact, but managed to rejoin safely. An incident was unfolding ahead that I was able to stay out of, meant that there was a gap to P1 in my class and I was in clear air, chasing him down, but a couple of laps later P1 being a BMW broke down gifting me the lead. From here I got into a rhythm keeping up with a class B Clio cup car until I got called in by Bert (the legend) to serve my mandatory 2 minute pit stop this was the first time I have ever been in a pit stop situation, it went well and they informed me the current situation of the race which was clear that if I was to finish I would win. So when I went back out I took it easy and just brought the car home P1 in class and p11 overall, and 45 seconds ahead of P2 in my class.
As always thank you to all my sponsors and everyone who supports me and all the members of club #28
I am back at Oulton Park for rounds 7&8 of the Miltek Civic Cup on the 16th July.
