Brands Hatch Civic Cup Race Report
First things first Bert is an absolute legend
Friday testing was in scorching hot conditions I felt comfortable in the car and after a few setup changes we found something that just clicked and it was a fast signs of things to come.
Saturday qualifying my session was really average having to jump out the way for cup cars to go through until the final lap where I had clear space and pushed my hardest and managed to bag pole in the production class from Alfie by only 3 hundreds of a second.
Race 1 I had a good start and a first lap battle with Alfie for the lead in class, then I started to pull away but unfortunately got caught up behind a couple of cup cars and I wasn’t able to quite make my way past allowing Alfie to catch up and we had a battle to the end where I didn’t quite have enough to get him back but still came home P2 in class.
Race 2 reverse grid I had a perfect start and coming into paddock hill bend I sent it round the outside gaining 5 positions and then another round the outside of Druids a lap later I was in P2 in class but as Alfie went for a move on a cup car he got taken out and at this point I knew I had a gap to the next production car and managed the gap to the end to take my first class victory in civic cup.
Race 3 was one of the hardest this year as after narrowly avoiding a pile up at turn 1 and was leading at the safety car restart. I lost 3rd gear and at a track where 3rd gear is the most important it was a massive blow to my pace but I still managed to finish the race without giving up in p4 in class.
Overall a really strong weekend at brands and thank you to everyone who came down to watch and say hi loved having all your support
As always big thank you to the team for giving me the best car and also to my sponsors and all members of club #28
