Donington Park Civic Cup Report Sunday Morning, Jumping straight into qualifying I had a tricky task of getting to grips with the car and track layout, one I’ve never driven before all within 15 minutes allocated time slot, despite this I had a good session, the car set up felt right, pace was good and I adapted to the track very quickly, managed to qualify p2 in class, 3 tenths behind pole. Very happy with that. Race 1, I got a decent start and managed to avoid some carnage ahead and then the safety car came out for a few laps, when the race was resumed I was on pace with Alfie and when he made a small mistake I managed to overtake, but shortly after 2 faster cup cars came together and I had to take avoiding action putting me back to p2. Where I stayed until the chequered flag just half a second off the lead. Race 2, I had a mega start going from 3rd to 1st by the first corner then another safety car came out for a cup class collision, When the safety car period finally ended I had a good launch, but a lap after I made a mistake on the entry to old hairpin and this spat me onto the grass and the bumps and I lost p1, I was unable to catch back up to make a move for the lead leaving me with another p2.
All in goof some good points secured for the championship, I am still in second place.
A good result for the team, another weekend on the podium, and lots of lessons learnt.
Looking forward to Brands Hatch for the penultimate round in a few weeks. As always thank you to all my sponsors and everyone who supports me and all the members of club #28
