Donington weekend report This is the second time I’ve been to this track, the first as a spectator a few weeks ago….. Friday testing was riddled with issues unfortunately this became a trend for the whole weekend, despite this I enjoyed learning the track with Howard Hunt gaining knowledge from him and was looking forward to qualifying and the races. Qualifying was going really well the first few laps and I was putting in some very good lap times, then it interrupted by an oil leak after a little incident so this meant I only managed to get 6 laps in, this put me p15 and p16 for the two races. It could have been a lot worse, so I was fairly happy with that. Race 1 was in tricky mixed weather conditions, the track was greasy. I got a good start could’ve been better but I was up a few positions then lost a couple later in the lap when trying to stay out of trouble. A safety car came out and I got a good restart and then having a great battle with Harvey dent for a couple of laps. One lap later I choose a different line at the Melbourne hairpin and gained 3 positions putting me p9 where I stayed for the rest of the race. Race 2 was very different I got another good start and went into a big space on the outside of turn 1, but then there was an out of control driver in a spinning car I needed to avoid , avoiding this put me in the gravel trap and as I needed assistance to get out I was unable to continue in the race. My first DNF in my career. Overall another tricky weekend but I want to end my junior racing career on a high at my home track of brands hatch I still hold the rookie championship lead by 19 points. With double points on offer at brands I will need perform well in the numbers game to secure the title. Congratulations to everyone on the grid this weekend, there was some truly great racing battles among the field. Thanks to everyone on the team - couldn’t do it without you!! Looking forward to seeing lots of my friends, family and sponsors at Brands Hatch!
