Pembrey weekend report

I had previously tested at the Welsh track, so I was feeling confident in the car straight away.

Friday testing started out very well being on pace from the off, but in the 3rd session I was involved in an incident at the hairpin where I got T-boned, apart from being a bit bruised I was able to get back out for the rest of the sessions during the remainder of the day. Thank you to everyone who helped get the car back out.

Qualifying went well able to solidify myself in the top 8 for all 3 races P8, P6 & P6 but towards the end of the session I burst a brake hose and came into the pits unable to do a quick fix, this was the end of my session. This was my best qualifying positions so far, so extremely happy with that!

Race 1 I had a very good start getting up a position after the first turn but I was blocked coming into turn 3, I stayed in the position of 7th despite being knocked around a bit in the latter half of the opening lap. From here I had my sights on 6th and having an incredibly fun battle with my rookie title championship contender Jamie Petters, both racing clean and respectfully of one another, but our batting invited another driver into the mix and eventually on the final lap I had to settle for 8th place in the end.

Race 2 was a bit different getting a less good start. I was then in the middle of a sandwich at the hairpin of turn 1 and lost 2 positions, from here I was just trying to hold on to the front group and hold my position of 7th. After a couple of laps, A safety car came out. On the restart I saw an opportunity to gain positions , I had a great start, but so shortly after a red flag would be waved due to a incident and I would finish 7th.

2 solid top ten finishes so far! Very happy with that.

Race 3 I was very unfortunate as after a good start and challenging the top 5, I was taken out by another driver going into turn 3 somehow I managed to keep it out of the tyre wall, and not cause any racing delays with safety cars or red flags, but I had received extensive front end damage and a puncture from the impact, I followed the back of the pack to the pit lane where I had to pit the team were able to tape me up and change the wheel and with the scrutineers approval I re-joined the race although this had put me down 2 laps. From then on my race became a glorified test session/ overtaking and race craft practice, overtaking 11 racing cars in a safe and efficient manner something other drivers clearly was not capable at the beginning of race 3, all while still gaining a potentially all important point for my rookie championship campaign.

Overall I have learned a lot from this weekend and will come back stronger for Donnington Park in 2 weeks where I am still searching for my first overall podium.

Points wise I still lead the Rookie Championship by 40 points and hold my overall position of 7th in the 2021 JSCC championship

As always a thank you and well done to the team and teammates this weekend.
