Silverstone August 2021

Silverstone weekend report Friday testing opened the weekend with a positive start with myself learning this Silverstone circuit very quickly in the dry with some instruction from Howard Hunt. I was feeling very confident with the sessions to come. Qualifying was in wet conditions that I didn’t gel with too well which left me starting the 3 races in P14th, P13th and P13th. Race one was very good starting in 14th I knew I had my work cut out for me, but despite this I gained 8 positions in the first 2 laps which left me in a comfortable 6th place. A safety car came out and then the rain started but I kept the car on track and came home in 6th place very happy with my performance. Race 2 was even better getting another perfect start from my new grid position of 12 after a grid penalty for another driver. I was quickly up in the 3rd place battle and on my way there I even bagged the fastest lap too. I stayed out of trouble and this left me in a very good position of 5th which then became 4th after another penalty to a driver was applied. Race 3 was arguably the best race I have done in the JSCC. So far, starting 13th I got a perfect start once again and gained 4 places on the first lap from here I was picking off drivers one by one and eventually found myself in the 4 way battle for 3rd coming into the last couple of laps. On the last lap it was very close coming down into Brooklands and Luffield and came home 5th which then became 4th after another driver penalty was given out. Just

under 2 tenths of a second off of my first podium. It’s definitely coming. Overall an incredibly good weekend stretching my rookie championship lead to 47 points and I now lie 7th in the overall as well. This weekend also proved that I can race within the top 5 no issue. I will also take much pride with my fastest lap being one of only 2 who got into the 1:13s all weekend.
